The Travel Dog Pod Car Seat Delivery
The items arrived very well packaged and thankfully vacuum-packed. One of our initial concerns when ordering was that the Dog Travel Pod looked very large and comfortable, which is ideal for our dogs, but not so ideal when being delivered. The packaging system was really well thought out, meaning that everything arrived in A1 condition, and the delivered packaged occupied a much smaller space than the final dog car seat and dog bed.
The Luther Bennett Dog Car Seat Unboxing and Setup
As soon as you open the packaging, you can tell the Dog Travel Pod is a premium, luxury product. The plush cushions plump up quickly, and the dog car seat cover itself is made of high-quality and hard-wearing nylon that feels soft yet durable and safe for muddy paws. It is of great quality and is easy to wipe clean when it gets muddy or dirty.
Once the items were unboxed and removed from their protective vacuum packaging, it was a simple and straightforward process to pop the cushions into the front, sides and rear of the car seat cover and into the fur-lined pad that sits in the base of the travel pod. Everything is beautifully made, and assembling the cushions and the seat was easy and straightforward. Setting up the Pod is simple:
Insert the cushions into the front, sides, and rear
Place the plush, fur-lined pad into the base
Zip everything together
Let the cushions fully expand
Everything fits neatly, feels well-designed, and gives the impression of a product built to last.
Once all of the cushions were inserted, it was a simple matter of zipping up the seat, and it was ready to go. The cushions and pads almost self-inflate when removed from the packaging, so the seat plumps up effortlessly without you needing to do anything.

The Dog Pod Comfort, Quality, Safety & Durability
As mentioned previously, as soon as you unbox the pod, you can tell that it's well-manufactured. The materials feel premium, durable, and built to withstand real-life dog travel, from muddy paws and daily use. The outer material is water-resistant, hard-wearing, and easy to wipe clean if there are any muddy footprints, and it feels like it would withstand countless adventures.
The cushions and fillings that make up the pod walls and seat are thick, padded and create a very luxurious and soft dog car seat suitable for even the most discerning of dogs. As well as being wipe clean, the whole seat is machine washable, so it can be kept looking pristine.
On top of the Pod, there are two sturdy handles which allow you to carry the bed, with your dog inside, from car to house without them having to move! Another nice touch is the spacious pockets on each side that provide plenty of storage for balls, collars and leads.

Fitting The Dog Travel Pod Car Seat Into the Car. ISOFIX Safe & Secure
Once assembled, fitting the Pod onto the car seat was a piece of cake. The seat sits directly on the car seat, and while there’s no real way to adjust the height, this isn’t a major issue, as the thick padding in the cushions means that your dog is raised anyway.
Two straps, one high and one low, attach to the clips on the Pod, then wrap around to the back of your car's seat, where two adjustable clips secure everything firmly in place so that the seat stays firmly attached. The V2 pods come with ISOFIX attachments, which lock the seat securely and provide rock-solid stability during travel.

The Luther Bennet Bennett Dog Pod in Use. Real Travel Testing
So, how did we get on with the Pod on real world journeys?
Really, really well!
All of the dogs that we took out in it seemed to absolutely love it! In the car, it was super padded and super comfortable, and the dogs all looked safe and secure once seated and attached. Even our 21kg Wheaten Terrier Charlie had plenty of room to sit and snuggle, and the thick, water resistant upholstered cushions provided plenty of warmth and padding. The Pod feels like a plush, padded cocoon that keeps them secure, calm, and comfortable, even during busy city driving or uneven road surfaces.
Once the Pod is attached and the dog is sitting securely inside, they even look secure thanks to the thick and padded front and rear walls. As we do a lot of city driving, there are always lots of stop-starts (and some late braking - other drivers' fault, not ours!), and at all times the dogs looked incredibly safe, stable and contained.
The Dog Pod From a Dogs Perspective. A Sofa in The Car!
As we’ve mentioned, all of the dogs we’ve taken out in the Travel Pod have absolutely loved it. They were happy to hop in, content to sit or sleep in it, and, as noted, have all looked safe, secure, and snug once inside.
Every dog we tested it with:
hopped in willingly
settled down immediately
either slept or calmly watched the world go by
appeared relaxed even during longer journeys
It genuinely creates a den-like, secure space that helps dogs feel safe, which is especially beneficial for dogs with travel anxiety or those who prefer enclosed, supportive spaces.
From a comfort perspective, it’s a definite paws up from all of our doggy passengers!

Simply unzip the fully padded front wall of the dog pod to create a comfortable, practical and easily accessible dog bed that our dog Charlie absolutely loves to lie in.

Every dog is different, but in our experience the Travel Dog Pod can really help anxious dogs. The pod creates a cosy, den-like space that feels more like a sofa or travel bed than a standard car seat. The thick, cushioned walls help dogs feel contained and secure, which can reduce fidgeting and stress on longer journeys. For dogs with severe anxiety or motion sickness, we’d still recommend speaking to your vet for additional support.
Can the Dog Pod be fitted on both the front and back seats?
The Dog Pod is designed to work on most standard car seats and can usually be installed on either the front passenger seat or the back seat, as long as it can be fully secured with the straps and ISOFIX connectors where available.
